Project Description: Managed a Power Operated Valve
(POV) Program at AEP’s D. C. Cook Nuclear Power
Station. This nuclear station is made up of two
Westinghouse’s Pressurized Water Reactors with a
combined electrical output of 2200 Megawatts.

Services Provided:
Responsibilities included but were not limited to:


♦  Management of the implementation of the
POV program in a quality, timely and
efficient manner. Supervision of multi-
discipline project engineering team. Project
was characterized by aggressive schedule
and completion dates with limited resources when
comparedagainst the magnitude of the scope
of work.

♦  Generation and implementation of process
improvements strategies for work activities,
data management and documentation,
including equipment database and software

♦  Revised POV Program Procedures which
included identification of methodologies,
organizations, responsibilities, interfaces,
procedures, and controls necessary for
program implementation

♦  Development and implementation of Setpoint
Control calculations for maintenance
department usage in testing activities.

♦  Responsible for the generation of Mechanical
and Electrical System and Component level
design basis review calculations

♦  Involved in the establishment of component
diagnostic testing strategies, acceptance
criteria, and frequencies

♦  Design basis reconstitution and reconciliation

♦  Design changes and modifications

♦  Engineering activities intended to improve

♦  Provided Personnel Training as related to the
development, implementation and
maintenance of POV program

♦  Provided engineering support to field
activities related to POV testing and
component modifications.

♦  Supported the utility during regulatory body
audits and in the preparation of the applicable
audit documents.

♦  Resolution of design, operational and
licensing non-conformances.

♦  Structural evaluations.
